Dogs are naturally curious and can be difficult to train. They have a tendency to explore their surroundings and quickly learn new things. However, training your dog is an important part of having a happy, healthy pet.
Here are some tips for Potty Training Your Dog:
- Make sure your dog has a place to go potty.
- Buy doggy diapers or use some old towels to lay down in the area where you want your dog to go potty.
- When you see your dog start sniffing around, say “go potty” and then give him a treat or play with him.
- If your dog goes where you want him to, say “good boy” and give him a treat.
- If your dog doesn’t go where you want him to, place the doggy diaper or old towels on the ground in that spot and then say “go potty.”
- When your dog finishes using the doggy diaper or old towels, immediately clean up after him.
- Repeat Step 1-6 daily until your dog fully understands.
While potty training your dog may seem a bit difficult, it is easily manageable with consistency and praise. Your dog will adjust much more quickly if the schedule appears consistent for the first two or three days in a row.
