Can I Have More Than 1 Account When Selling On Mercari?

Currently Mercari limits having one account per person when selling on Mercari. However they do allow multiple accounts per household. For example in the same household a wife can have an account on Mercari and a husband can also have a separate account on Mercari.

Who Pays for Shipping on Mercari?

Shipping on Mercari is determined by the seller. Every individual seller has to determine when they are creating a listing whether they will cover the shipping cost, meaning they offer free shipping or whether the buyer will pay for shipping. Shipping cost is determined by the weight of the item and the shipping carrier that the seller is using to ship the item ie. USPS, UPS, or Fedex.

Does Mercari Send you a Shipping Label?

Yes, if you choose standard shipping when selling on Mercari, then once your item is sold Mercari will automatically email you a shipping label. For local delivery and ship on your own, then Mercari will not send you a label.

Does Mercari Ship to PO Boxes?

Yes, Mercari ships to PO Boxes using USPS ground advantage or Priority shipping labels. However Fedex and UPS do not accept PO Boxes as valid shipping addresses. If a customer wants to ship to a PO Box then the listing must be sent with USPS.

Can I Use Flat Rate Boxes for Mercari?

It depends. Let me explain. If you choose Mercari’s standard shipping option where they send you a label then no, you cannot use USPS Priority flat rate boxes to ship. Mercari’s prepaid labels do not offer shipping with flat rate boxes. Mercari does offer USPS prepaid labels but they are only on media mail, ground advantage and regular Priority.
However if you are shipping on your own then yes you can choose to use USPS priority flat rate boxes. When you ship on your own you choose the carrier and shipping service. As long as you can provide a tracking number in the order so Mercari can track the delivery.

Does Mercari Accept PayPal?

Yes, Mercari accepts Paypal as a form of payment. They also accept all major credit cards, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Venmo, Zip and Apple pay. When using paypal on Mercari it is important to make sure that the email address you use on Mercari is registered with your Paypal account to avoid having your payment decline.

How to bundle on Mercari?

There are 2 ways to bundle when selling on Mercari depending on whether you are the seller or the buyer. As a seller it will require some manual effort to create a brand new listing with all the bundled items. However as a buyer, Mercari allows you to add items from the same seller you would like to bundle to your cart and make an offer. You can add up to 10 items in a single bundle with a maximum offer price of $2000.

As a Seller:

  1. Find out which items your buyer wants you to bundle.
  2. Create a brand new listing of the items that your buyer wants to bundle.
  3. Make sure that you deactivate or delete the original items listings to avoid selling them again and having to cancel transactions.
  4. Add photos, title and description of the bundled items.
  5. Add the shipping option and the weight of the bundled items together.
  6. Publish the listing.
  7. Message the buyer and let them know their bundle listing is available for purchase.
  8. Once purchased, package and ship the items.

As a Buyer:

  1. Add multiple items from the same seller to your cart.
  2. Then go into your cart and click bundle items and make offer.
  3. Select or input the amount that you would like to offer the seller for your bundle.
  4. Click Send offer.
  5. The seller has 24 hours to review your offer, make a counteroffer or decline.
  6. If an item in your bundle sells before the seller responds to your offer, then you can send a revised offer on the remaining items in your bundle.
  7. Once an offer or counter offer is accepted, the bundle will be sold and the buyer will be charged.

How to Cancel an Offer on Mercari?

As a buyer there is no way to directly cancel or retract an offer on Mercari. If you make a mistake or need to retract an offer for any reason, first message the buyer. If they haven’t responded to the offer yet, ask if they will decline the offer. If the seller has already accepted your offer, you can ask them to cancel the transaction or you can submit a cancellation request.

How to Cancel a Transaction on Mercari?

Buyers can request to cancel a transaction any time before it ships out or if the tracking hasn’t updated for 15 days.
Sellers can cancel transactions if they are unable to fulfill the order or the item is damaged or defective.

To Request cancellation as a Buyer

  1. Go to the order that you want to cancel.
  2. Click on Request Cancellation.
  3. A Message will be sent to the Seller requesting the cancellation.

Cancelling a Transaction as a Seller

  1. First message your buyer and explain the reason that you are needing to cancel the order.
  2. From the order screen, click on Refund Buyer at the very bottom.
  3. Choose the reason.
  4. Confirm Cancellation.

Can a Buyer Return an Item on Mercari?

Yes, however Mercari only allows returns under limited circumstances.

  • Item is not as described in the listing
  • Item doesn’t work as described
  • Item was damaged during shipping
  • I didn’t received everything I ordered
  • I received the wrong item
  • Authenticity concerns

Buyers must initiate a return request through the Order Status page or Rating page within 72 hours of an item being delivered. Once a transaction has been rated or more than 72 hours has elapsed since the item was delivered, returns are no longer permitted.

To Open a return

  1. Go to the order status page or the rating page.
  2. Click on return.
  3. Select a return reason.
  4. Upload clear photos of the shipping label, external package, packing materials, and all items included in the package.
  5. Mercari will evaluate the return request and may request additional information from the seller to make a determination on a return.
  6. If approved the buyer has 3 calendar days to package and ship the item back to the seller.

Can I search for a Seller on Mercari?

Currently there is no active way to search for a seller by their username on Mercari. Mercari’s search can only be used to search for items. However if you know one of the items they are selling you can search for them through that item.

  1. Search for the item.
  2. Click on the seller’s profile picture. This will bring you to their profile.
  3. From here you can save and follow the seller. You can also see all their reviews and listings.

How to Delete Sold Items on Mercari?

Sold items listings can be deleted after 2 weeks of the transaction being rated and completed on Mercari.

To Delete Sold Listings:

  1. Click on your profile picture in the right hand corner.
  2. In the drop down menu click on My listings.
  3. Scroll down. On the left hand side of the page under Sold, click Complete.
  4. This will bring up all your sold items. Find the listings that you want to remove.
  5. Click on View order.
  6. Scroll Down to the bottom of the page.
  7. Click on Remove listing. If the remove listing tab is not there it hasn’t been long enough since the transaction was completed to be removed yet. Wait some more time and try again.

How to find your inactive listings on Mercari?

When you deactivate an item or listing on Mercari that listing will stay in your inactive listings until you manual delete it or reactivate it. Depending upon whether you are using Mercari’s website or the app will determine how to find your inactive listings.

On the website:

  1. Click on your profile picture in the right hand corner.
  2. In the drop down menu click on My Listings.
  3. On the left hand side of the screen under the Listings, click Inactive.
  4. This will show you all the listings that are currently inactive.

On the app:

  1. Click on the Sell (house icon) in the center at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Click on Seller Details.
  3. In the center of the screen there is a box that says active listings. Underneath that it says Inactive listings.
  4. Click on Inactive listings. This will bring up a list of all currently inactive listings.

How to Block Someone on Mercari?

  1. Find the user you want to block.
  2. Click on their profile picture, this will bring you to their profile page.
  3. In the top right hand corner of the page, click on the 3 dot icon.
  4. Click Block user.

How to Put Mercari on Vacation Mode?

To put your Mercari listings on Vacation Mode

  1. Click on your Profile picture in the top right hand corner.
  2. Click on settings.
  3. On the left hand side click on Vacation.
  4. Select on.
  5. Enter the start and end date.
  6. Click save.

Your listings will automatically reactivate at the end of your vacation date.
