Buying a dashcam can be tricky especially if it’s the first time you are getting one. In this article I will help you decide and share with you the best dashcams you can get for less than $150.

After owning a dashcam for almost 2 years, I know exactly what I’m looking for while searching for my next one, but first let’s talk about the reasons why you should have a dashcam in you car:

  1. You need one to capture fun times with friends and family.
  2. It allows you to record your surrounding while safely driving. You don’t need to use your phone to record while driving.
  3. A dashcam can provide you with important evidence in case you get in an accident.
  4. It also captures situations when you are a victim of a road rage incident.
  5. Many dashcams monitor your cars surroundings while your car is parked and the engine is off, detecting any bumps or physical movement.

I spent $200 on a dashcam 2 years ago whilst keeping video quality in mind, but I’ve decided to replace it because I have learned that a perfect dashcam should provide more functionality.

Read this before you purchase a dashcam:

  • Your Dashcam should capture every detail of the road and provide good quality videos.
  • Make sure you purchase a dual dashcam that covers your car’s surroundings (Front and Rear).
  • Avoid a camera that isn’t a touchscreen or doesn’t have an app, or you will soon find out that it’s hard to change settings by pressing small buttons after you set up your dashcam.
  • It’s important that your dashcam has a built-in WIFI to access videos with a phone App (IOS & Android). You should be able to easily view, download, and share the footage. No WIFI & App means that you can only view your videos after removing your memory card, connecting it to your laptop, going through many videos to find the one you are looking for, and taking back the memory card to your car. I have lost a memory card because of that.
  • A good dashcam should provide a Superior Night Vision to capture clear videos or license plates at night or in the low light environments.
  • 24 Hour Parking Mode – A dashcam should be able to auto record any impact and lock the video even when your engine is off.
  • Support is very important in case you have questions or you encounter problems with your camera, or at least YouTube reviews from other users who show how to install your dashcam and how to fix any problems you have in the future.
  • And finally price. It’s important to save money while getting a dashcam that provides all these functions.

I’m deciding between the following 2 car cameras that I believe are the best 2 dashcams that I can get for less that $150 to replace the one I already have.

Both capture front and rear and can be turned to capture inside of the car. They have built in WIFI and an app for me to view, download and share my videos without the need to remove the memory card every time to view videos on my laptop. And they both have reviews online to help me install and set up settings.
