What’s the difference between USPS first class and USPS priority mail?
USPS First Class and USPS Priority Mail
There are a few differences between USPS first class mail and USPS priority mail:
- Weight: The maximum weight for First Class Mail letters is 3.5 oz, for large First Class Mail envelopes and parcels, the maximum weight is 13 oz. Priority mail is for packages over 13 oz or first class packages if the sender chooses to pay priority mail service price.
- Delivery Speed: Priority mail is usually delivered within 1, 2 or 3 days. First class mail delivery time is 1–3 business days.
As an online reseller, I have been using USPS services for several years because my sold items always make it on time and in good condition to my customers. Few times a year you can expect some delays if the weather conditions are severe.
