To cancel an order on eBay, contact the seller as quickly as possible and ask if they can cancel it for you. Keep in mind that it costs the seller money and time to accept your request so make sure that you want the item before making a purchase.

How to Cancel an Order within the last hour:

If you decide to cancel a purchase you’ve made on eBay within the last hour. Contact the seller to let them know before they send your item by following these simple steps:

Go to your Purchase history.
Find the order you want to cancel.
Select the More actions dropdown menu.
Select Cancel this order.
Submit.

eBay will send your request to the seller and send a confirmation of cancellation to your registered email and your eBay messages. Keep in mind that the seller has to agree to your cancellation request.

Cancel a purchase transaction you made more than an hour ago:

Follow these steps to cancel a purchase you made on eBay more than an hour ago.

Go to Purchase history.
Find the order you want to cancel.
Select Contact seller.
Click Request to cancel this order.
Choose Contact the seller.
Let the seller know why you decided to cancel your order.

Why you shouldn’t cancel an order on eBay unless it’s necessary?

The seller has to agree to cancelling your order.
If your item is already dispatched, you will have to wait until you receive it before you can start a return request.
If the seller agrees to cancel you purchase transaction, they have up to 10 days to issue a refund, add to that 3 to 5 days before PayPal refund goes through and up to 30 days if you paid using a credit card depending on your card provider.

Please always make sure that you want an item before making a purchase decision, and only cancel an order when it’s necessary.

As a seller on eBay, I loose time and money everytime a customer decide to cancel an order after making a purchase, especially when they request a cancellation after I drop the item at the post office.
