How To Increase your eBay Sales in 2022

Are you struggling to make sales or increase your eBay sales in 2022? In this post, I will share with you some of the most important tips that have helped me make more sales and more money on eBay so far this year.

5 Tips to Increase your eBay Sales in 2022:

1- Stay Positive:

I’ve seen many Youtube videos and read many articles where the so called “Influencers” or “Experts” complain about low sales and everything else related to eBay. I suggest that you stay away from that negative environment, simply because it is counterproductive.

To be successful as an eBay seller you need to believe in yourself and stay positive even when things become complicated.

I always remember that I have my own business reselling items on eBay, I don’t work for eBay and eBay doesn’t owe me anything.

So whenever eBay decides to adopt a new update to their search algorithm I avoid complaining, I try to understand it and adopt the necessary changes to my store and listings as soon as I can. The more my listings rank high in the search results, the more sales and money I will make.

2- Never Stop Listing New Items:

If you ask me what is the most important advice to increase your sales on eBay, I would tell you to list regularly, everyday if you can.

I understand that if selling on eBay is only a part time job for you, it will be hard to create new listings after a long day at your regular full time job. You can make drafts on your days off and list them during the week. Instead of listing 21 items on your days off, try to list 3 items each day of the week, that will keep your store active and help your listings rank better in the search results.

Even with almost 3 thousands listings in my store, when I list less, I make less sales. So listing new items regularly is important for beginners and advanced sellers alike.

3- Make your Listings Stand Out:

You don’t need to be creative or spend any money to make your listing stand out:

  • Add as many photos as you can in your listings (eBay allows 12 photos).
  • Add a video to help potential customers decide to purchase your items (eBay allows one video per listing).
  • Make sure your photos are clear enough to show the real condition of your item (Natural lighting is usually the best).
  • Make sure your titles are keyword focused. Think about what the buyers will search for to find your item when creating your titles (Brand, Gender, What the item is, Size, Color, etc.).
  • Reflect the real condition of the item in your description. Add the same keywords you used in your title and tell potential buyers about any flaws the item may have. Be honest to avoid unnecessary returns.
  • Price your item reasonably. You need to take in consideration your cost of goods, fees, your profit and leave some room for negotiations.

4- Reprice Your Items:

When you price a new item, you need to have an idea about the competition prices, but because many resellers will list items similar to yours at a later date, they will probably price them lower.

I’m not suggesting here that we all discount our prices just to compete, because we are trying to make money not to lose money, but it is important to review our prices sometimes especially for items that didn’t sell after a period of time, to make sure that our prices aren’t too high.

5- Promote your Listings and Send Coupons to Buyers:

Promotions are a great way to attract more buyers. Promoting my listings for a limited time through “Sale event + markdown” and “Order Discount” promotions have helped me make more eBay sales, especially around the promotions start and end dates.

Another way you can increase your eBay sales is to send private and public coupons to buyers. I found out that a 10% Off coupon works well with my customer base, but you can test different coupons depending on the average price of your items and your customer base to figure out which one will work best for your store.

Bonus Tip:

Start an eBay advertising campaign to help your listings rank higher in eBay’s search results and increase your chances to make sales.

It is true that it costs money to advertise on eBay, but because I sell regular everyday items (Clothing, Accessories, Shoes, etc.), I launched an advertising campaign to be able to compete with other sellers.

Keep in mind that advertising is not mandatory to make sales, especially if you sell in categories that are in high demand and have less competition (You won’t need to advertise to sell a well priced iPhone for example), but if you resell in very competitive categories, try to test several advertising campaigns to find out which advertising rate will work best for your store.
